GAMMApage-
GAMMApage is a gamma-adjusting utility for your monitor. Written in Python using GTK and pyGTK. It's able to adjust gamma on the fly, and save settings to be used at each login—on a per-user basis. GAMMApage will only write to the user's home directory.
-
There is also a
parallel
build called Monica without Python/GTK, using the diminutive FLTK toolkit, and you can find it here. -
The above is a shot of the main screen. Very much a no-nonsense layout, with a decent amount of free space and a mid-grey background. Comes off as looking a bit
old-school
, but, hey -- it has a job to do. -
The layout and functionality is much the same as its predecessor, Monica -- but the gamma-setting routines are more robust and user-friendly with GAMMApage.
-
As an example, Slackware's inittab settings, rather unique, are taken into account. Also, much more specific information is given if any problems arise.
GAMMApage is also more helpful with preparation, and troubleshooting, due to the extended help, available via the
info
button. See the screen below: -
Dependencies for the source and Slackware distributions are:
GTK+2-2.6 Python-2.4 pyGTK-2.6 Pango
I realize the dependencies for GAMMApage are bit greater, than for Monica, but they are also much more common. Most late-model distros come with these already, and since I have taken up Python/GTK as my language/toolkit of choice -- I thought it best to ensure continued support and further development. - I hope you enjoy the software. If you have any problems or suggestions, don't hesitate to email me.
